Structure your exercise-based training systematically for best results

Exercises should always be considered as part of a programme.

Designing and managing an exercise programme demands information: what exercises have been run, when, by whom? What were the scenarios used? Which stakeholders took part? And what were the comments and recommendations made afterwards? How far have these recommendations been followed up?

The 'Alternative Worlds' system keeps all this data and can easily generate reports in any convenient format, say to meet internal reporting requirements, or to reassure external regulators and stakeholders.

Safety, security and continuity managers change. People with exercise experience move on. Without a solid basis of data, many companies do not learn the lessons of exercises - or rather, they learn the same lessons over and over again, but never properly implement them. The hallmark of a 'learning organisation' is that it identifies issues as they arise, thinks of solutions, implements those solutions, and then moves forward.

Our system produces written exercise briefing - handbooks, Master Event Lists, injects, just as you do now. It is written from the background of best current practice - such as the new BSI guidance note PD 25666, and the UK Civil Contingencies Act guidance on exercises - but it can easily be customised so that its documentation looks exactly like your existing documentation and systematically follows the same patterns.
